Kice Industries and the Wood Pellet Industry
Kice Industries was founded in 1946 and has specialized in the design and fabrication of industrial air systems for most of its history. Specifically, Kice builds pneumatic conveying, dust control and fines removal equipment.
In the last decade, Kice has added an Automation and Electrical Group that can provide complete, engineered electrical packages, including automation, for new and existing plants. The Group includes a UL Approved panel shop to provide its own electrical panels for all sizes of projects.
Also formalized within this time frame is the Kice Process Group that provides system design and layout work. The goal of the Process Group is to help a customer determine a “flow” or system and then to provide detailed layout drawings of the equipment involved so that the customer may source accurate, comparable bids on building costs and installation work.
Often times Kice is referred to as the glue that brings a plant together. As a company focused on material handling, Kice has spent 60+ years moving product from one process to another or from one machine to another. The wood pellet industry is no exception. Kice’s involvement with wood pellets includes the following:
- System design and layout work for new plants.
- Dust control around raw material handling systems.
- Air systems for hammermills.
- Air systems for pellet mills.
- Aspiration systems to remove fines from pellets prior to bagging or loadout.
- Complete electrical packages including engineering, automation and installation.
